Character Breakdown
Mei-Li in her 20's. A new immigrant from China struggling to fit into American life without losing her individuality. Vocal range: mezzo with a low range.
Wang In his 50's. A Chinese Opera actor, stubborn traditionalist, and immigrant to San Francisco. Vocal Range: Lyric Baritone (to F)
Chin In his 60's. A Chinese man and an old friend of Wang family. Vocal Range: Tenor (to A)
Ta In his 20's. Wang's rebellious Chinese American son who favors the trendy over the traditional. Vocal Range: Tenor (to G)
Harvard In his 20's. A Chinese American costumier to Club Chop Suey. Friend and confidante to Linda Low. Vocal Range: Baritone
Linda Low In her 20's. A sexy Chinese American star showgirl of the Club Chop Suey. Vocal Range: Alto/Belter showgirl
Madame Liang In her 40's. A Chinese American Talent agent. Vocal Range: Alto
Chao In his 20's. A new immigrant from China who is in love with Mei-Li.
Vocal Range: Tenor
Male and Female Ensemble: A group of 8 women and 8 men (minimum age 18) that can sing and dance; playing various roles throughout the show. The roles of Mr.Chong and Mr. Lee will be cast from the ensemble as well.

Jerry Lukowski in his 30’s. Caucasian. An unemployed mill worker. Average guy with no luck. Good heart and loves his son Nathan. Bit of a smart alect and loud mouth. High Bari-tenor.
Dave Bukatinsky In his 30’’s. Caucasian. An unemployed mill worker. Large man. Good natured and all around nice guy. Vocal Range: Lyric Baritone with strong falsetto.
Nathan Lukowski 12 years old. Average kid. Jerry’s son. Struggles with the divorce of his parents. Does not need to sing.
Pam Lukowski In her late 20’s or early 30’s. Jerry’s ex-wife and Nathan’s mom. Caucasian .Smart woman working hard to change her life. Lives with her boyfriend Teddy. Strong belt.
Teddy Slaughter In his 30’s. Caucasian. Pam’s boyfriend. Good looking, salesman type. Competitive with other guys. Jealous of Jerry. Does not need to sing.
Georgie Bukatinsky In her late 20’s. Dave’s wife. Works at the mall. Loves her husband and her life. Vocal range. High rock belt.
Harold Nichols In his 40’s. Caucasian. Unemployed mill supervisor. Somewhat pompous and materialistic. Is distant from everyone including his wife.
Vocal Range: Bari/Tenor
Vicki Nichols in her late 30’s. Caucasian. Harold’s wife. Very bubbly. Somewhat brash. Enjoys life and money. High belt.
Malcolm MacGregor n his late 20’s, Caucasian. Unemployed mill worker. Lives with his mom. Low self esteem. Caring but, insecure. Strong pop tenor.
Ethan Girard in his late 20’s to mid 30’s. Caucasian. Unemployed mill worker. Upbeat guy. Fairly good build. Strong tenor.
Noah Horse Simmons in his 50’s. African American. Natural dancer. Proud, No nonsense guy.
