Donor/Sponsor Recognition Associate
Description: A member of the Communications Team at AMTSJ, this position works closely with development, marketing, administrative and production staff to steward current donors and corporate partners through thoughtful communications and recognition events including coordination of our annual fundraising gala. Requires a high energy, self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented person with a passion for the arts who enjoys providing excellent customer care.
Reports to: Director of Development
Salary: Full-time salary plus comprehensive benefit package
Responsibilities include:
- Implement stewardship plan for individuals, corporations and foundations while identifying new channels for communication and recognition.
- Provide corporate stewardship for all corporate donors/sponsors and ensure that sponsorship recognition is fulfilled as agreed, including ticketing, promotional events, signage, advertising, gifts, talking points for company officials, ticketing and receptions.
- Research corporate and individual prospects and prepare solicitations/proposals, supplemental materials and thank you letters for current donors and sponsors.
- In partnership with Director of Development and/or Director of Marketing, manage 10 donor recognition events each season including logistics, printed materials, and taking RSVPs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with caterers, area restaurants, and other vendors.
- Participate in annual fundraising gala planning and coordination including coordination of budgets, committee communications, raffle and auction fulfillment.

- Ability, flexibility and enthusiasm to work with staff, teams, high-level volunteers, donors and corporate executives.

- A non-profit background in donor, corporate relations and sponsorships a plus.
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
American Musical Theatre is seeking applicants for a customer service position to work in the box office for the current and upcoming seasons. A patron's experience with AMTSJ's Ticket Service Representatives influences their opinion of the organization and may affect their decision to attend other productions. It is the responsibility of the Ticket Representative to guarantee that each patron is treated with the utmost respect and courtesy, thus ensuring an exceptional theatrical experience.
*We are currently looking for a bilingual representative who is fluent in English and Spanish.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Sells tickets for all AMTSJ productions (as well as Children’s Musical Theatre, and Ballet San Jose productions) utilizing the Paciolan computerized ticketing system. The majority of the Ticket Representative’s time will be spent on the phone assisting patrons.
- Opens/Closes the office and provides exceptional customer service both on the phone and at ticket windows.
- Keeps track of all money made in cash and checks.
- Works at theatre during productions.
- Follows company policies to ensure proper processing of tickets.
- Respond to customer issues with courtesy and professionalism.
- Assists with other various duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent customer service skills, any retail sales experience is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be very reliable
- Strong Attention to detail
- Ability to work as a team member
- Working knowledge of common computer programs (Excel, Word, Internet Explorer etc)
- Ability to use own judgment in solving problems
- Must be 18 years or older
- Some college experience preferred, ticket sales experience is a big plus
- Must have a strong work ethic

HONORS Production Respondent
Production respondents make up the panel of theatre professionals, each with a specific theatrical field (Acting/Directing, Voice/Music, Choreography, Design/Production, etc.) that attend each HONORS show; this includes one performance and one critique session per school. Production respondents are asked to attend at least five, high school musical theatre productions in the HONORS program and their subsequent critique sessions; use the assessment tool consistently for every production review, as provided by AMTSJ; adhere to High School Musical Theatre HONORS Official Rules; and are encouraged to participate in the HONORS ceremony at the Center for Performing Arts in San Jose on Thursday, May 29, 2008. This is a paid position.

High School Musical Theatre HONORS
The musical productions of up to 30 Bay Area high schools are reviewed and critiqued on an individual basis by theatre professionals called “production respondents.” After an oral critique session and discussion, each participating school receives a participation award, participation certificates for the entire cast/crew, as well as outstanding certificates for certain categories within the production. Teacher-nominated performers and technicians are put into a random drawing for scholarships to our Theatre Arts Conservatory and our Technical Theatre Institute. In late spring, there is an awards ceremony celebrating all of the participants in our High School Musical Theatre HONORS program. The ceremony itself strives to involve as many students as possible from high school theatre programs around the Bay Area in a non-competitive atmosphere. It serves as a vehicle for bringing youth together in a showcase of their own creative efforts where musical theatre is a catalyst for imagination, common goals, and shared experiences.
