PROGRAMS & SERVICES
- American Musical Theatre of San Jose (AMTSJ) serves the City of San Jose and the surrounding Santa Clara Valley/Silicon Valley, as well as the greater Bay Area.
AMTSJ presents 6-8 productions per year – producing approximately 4 of them and the remaining productions are national Broadway tours.
- AMTSJ offers variety of Education & Outreach Programs including Writing a Musical, High School Musical Theatre HONORS, Theatre Arts Conservatory, Studio Classes, Technical Theatre Institute, Educational Matinees, Student Performance Series and Accessibility Services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing and for the blind.
- AMTSJ founded The San Jose Arts Round Table, a forum where major arts institutions seek cooperative solutions and help build stability. We sit on the boards of Team San Jose, The San Jose Arts Round Table and First Act. AMTSJ's leadership has served on the National Endowment for the Arts Board and was a founding member and chair of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) and is still a member.
- AMTSJ operates under an agreement with Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) — the union that represents over 45,000 professional actors and stage managers in the United States; under an agreement with the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Inc. (SSDC) — an independent national labor union; under an agreement with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (or I.A.T.S.E.) — backstage and front of the house employees; United Scenic Artists representing the designers and scenic painters for the American theatre; and the American Federation of Musicians — musicians employed for all AMTSJ productions.
