It's the ultimate tap-dancing backstage musical comedy! It's 42nd STREET,
a glorious celebration of Broadway and its people. Fresh from Allentown, PA,
aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer arrives in Depression-era New York and
lands a job in a new musical. Soon Peggy is contending with the demanding
producer, a jealous stage diva, and the attentions of the show’s juvenile male
romantic lead. But this raw beginner may end up a star when given the chance
to step into the spotlight. Winner of the 1981 Tony Award® for Best Musical
and the 2001 Tony Award® for Best Revival of a Musical, its memorable score
contains such show-stoppers as "You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me,"
"Dames," "We're in the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo"
and the toe-tapping title tune.
